Painting by Wm. B. Hoyt
I've been building furniture for more than 40 years. My goal has always been the same: to make objects that will elicit the same fondness and pleasure I felt for the furniture that surrounded me as a child. I especially like classic English and Chinese furniture, and those influences are evident in many of my designs.

My furniture is by commission and is priced on a time and materials basis. This puts a typical desk, for example, in the range of $8-10,000. I generally use domestic woods such as walnut, cherry or figured maple, with quarter sawn oak for hidden structural members and butternut for lighter elements like drawer bottoms or backs. Occasionally I turn to tropical woods such as rosewood or mahogany as well.

If something here strikes your fancy, please email or call me. I’d love to build a piece for you that will be treasured by your descendants a century or two from now.
